June 24-26: Road Trip to OKC with Caroline

Caroline had never taken a trip with us in the motorhome and had asked us previously if we would plan a trip that she could take with us.  The three of us left Wichita on Friday.  , June 24, for Oklahoma City.  We spent three days there.  On Saturday Caroline baked and decorated cupcakes and then we all went to the theatre to see Oliver.  The second day we went to the Cowboy and Western Museum.  Our thought was to spend a couple of hours there, but it was so interesting and she enjoyed it so much, that we were there all day.  And the third day, we went into Bricktown area of Oklahoma City.  Each evening when we returned to the campground, Caroline spent a few hours in the swimming pool.  We had a great time with her and truly hope she enjoyed it as much as we did.

We dressed up and took a portrait of us for the theater.

Caroline basked cupcakes and decorated them for us.

The Cowboy and Western Museum had a special exhibit of nationally known western artists.  It was a very impressive exhibit.  We were not able to take photos in that part of the museum.

The works below are part of the permanent collections and were awesome.
The End of the Trail

A special section of the museum was an typical western town.  We were able to wander through the town and peek in the shops and offices.

The rodeo was a big part of the western life.  There was another wing devoted to the rodeo and the Calvary.

Outside the museum grounds had many large granite sculptures

The next day was Bricktown.
Boat ride through the canals of Bricktown.

Life size sculptures depicting the pioneers coming into the city.

And at the end of the hot day, we all had ice cream

Every day ended with some time at the pool.

Thank you, Caroline , for sharing such great fun with us.
We love you

.

Lots of hugs and love to all of you,
Barb and Linda

Dining with Friends & Family

For the past two weeks we have been focusing on getting together with friends and family who we want to see before we leave St. Louis.

Breakfast with Donna & Carole.
We spent 3 hours in Denny's catching up with our lives.

These are the "girls" with whom Linda went to elementary, junior high, and high school.
Our 50th high school reunion is coming up this fall.

Franklin one of our favorite principals, his wife Tresa,
and our friend Carolyn.

As you can see, we always looked up to Franklin.

Tom and Nancy are new friends who camped near us.

We had a nice evening with Barb's cousins,
Jean (on left in back), Kim, Dave and Annalise (in front of Kim).

We forgot to take a photo of evening with Joan & Scottie, so I used one from last year.

We sat outside, visited with BC and toasted each other with water.
We were hoping those mugs of water would
turn into mugs of wine.

Lloyd is a dear, dear friend of ours.
We always go out for a Steak n Shake with him.

Another night of dinner.. this time with Linda's cousins,
Rachel (on left in back), Mitch, and Janice.

Marti joined us for dinner at the restuarant in the Sundermeier RV Park

Sunday we leave the St. Louis area and head west. Our first major stop will be in Wichita where Linda's daughter and grandkids live.

Love and hugs to all of you,
Linda, Barb, and Bailey

June 4: Heligman Reunion

Yesterday 4 of Linda's cousins came in town and so we had a mini family reunion for all of the St. Louis family who could attend.  We are all descendants of Louis and Mary Heligman who had twelve chidren.  Those of us who attended are all 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation descendants and only are a few of the St. Louis contingency.  There are in fact a much larger number of Heligman relatives on the west coast.

It was really wonderful to meet relatives who I had not seen since childhood.
