Homecoming at AJ

We have been back at AJ (Apache Junction) for a week now and it feels great to be home. As soon as we entered the gates, we were greeted by Francie, who just happened to be driving by on her golf cart. Francie was the first person we met when we arrive 4 years ago and she was our contact person who helped us get an RV site. So it was just fitting that she would be the first person to greet us on our arrival.

For the first few days we hugged and hugged and renewed friendships with everyone who also was returning from their summer of travels. It actually took us about 3 hours to get our rig set up once we pulled into our site. Normally it takes about 1/2 hour but with people coming by to say "welcome" and then chatting with them about their summer, we somehow took forever to set up.

But we are now all set up with the chairs , rugs, grill, etc. all decked out on our patio. We have a new decoration for our front area that consists of a large parrot holding a margarita glass. The parrot twirls in one direction from a breeze and his tail twirls in another direction.

This week we have also reestablished our activities and beginning to book our days with scheduled events and dinners. Barb has started with her poker group; we attended the first bocce ball meeting and will participate in a bocce ball tournement in a few weeks; today we go to a "how to stay healthy" seminar. We also are going to learn to throw darts this year.

We have also spent time doing the small repairs and the major cleaning that this coach needs after 7 months of travel. Had to fix the door lock since the door would not close our first night here and had to be held shut with a bungee cord. Had several seals that were sticking and steps that need to be lubricated and hoses that leaked. All is good now. Spent the other day washing the whole rig and now we will start on the waxing.

So this season is off to a good start. I have been wanting to post pictures but have not been able to since all the pictures are on the newer laptop and it is in the computer shop being fixed, I hope. The slot for our pc card to get on the internet is not working and Toshiba has a repair facility in the Phoenix area. It has been there since last week; new part comes in today. Time will tell. Pictures will follow when I get it back.

We are having fun and laughing and enjoying ourselves here. Hope all is good with all of you.

Love and hugs,
Linda and Barb
